"If I could offer you only one tip for the future, SUNSCREEN would be it." Baz Luhrmann
That is the best skin care advice you will ever get. Soak it in...Did you know that sunscreen is the only FDA approved anti-aging product? All the other overpriced lotions that claim eternal youth might or might not work. Sunscreen is the only thing that has been proved to work. Blocking the sun rays will protect you from wrinkles, freckles and skin cancer. I would rather have you skip washing your face than skip sunscreen. We all have those mornings when we don't have an extra 5 seconds. Choose sunscreen over anything else. It could be saving your life.
I am about to give you a complete beauty recipe for different age groups and skin types. While that is ideal, I know a lot of you might not have time or energy to do that on a daily basis. So here's how you prioritize:
1. Sunscreen - that is the most important step in your beauty routine. Skip breakfast before you skip this!
2. Cleanser - if you only have time to do two things, cleanse and apply sunscreen.
3. Moisturizer (night lotion) - your night lotion is your moisturizer, that's when your skin is relaxed enough to absorb all the nutrients from the lotion. Ideally, you would do this after the treatment, but if you're pressed for time, just cleanse and moisturize. I do not recommend using moisturizer in the morning, a good moisturizer is water soluble and not make-up friendly. I also don't think your skin will be absorbing anything good when it's stressed out and fighting free radicals, so using moisturizer will be a waste of product. Sunscreen is the best thing to use during the day and under make up and the only thing you need.
4. Toner - this is a very important step after cleansing, because it balances your skin's PH, but if you have to skip it you will live. I'd rather have you moisturize.
5.Treatment (scrub, serum, acid peel) - this is the part that will actually fix a problem, so if you don't have any, you can completely skip this. Of course that would mean you're a newborn:). Any adult can benefit from a light peel to boost the cell renewal.
6. Mask - this is a love declaration for your skin. It shows that you're committed to keeping it as beautiful as it gets. It's going above and beyond. You will be fine if you skip this, but when you do it, you will feel like you've just found an oasis in the dessert.

Baby on Board
Like I said before, if you're pregnant or a new mom, my expectations are really low. Just wear sunscreen. However, this is also a time when your skin is the neediest, so here's what you can do between Lamaze classes or while the baby naps:
Morning:
Cleanse with a cleanser, according to your skin type.
Tone.
Apply sunscreen.
Evening:

Moisturize.
Weekly:
Use a mask.
Monthly:

I would not recommend using a treatment with strong active ingredients while you're pregnant or breastfeeding, unless suggested by a dermatologist and ok-ed with your ob and pediatrician.

The Busy Bee
You know who you are: Whether you're raising little humans, working 80 hour weeks or volunteering more than Mother Theresa, you spend all day giving to everybody but yourself. Time is precious, so the last time you've moisturized has been...last winter or the winter before, you're not quite sure. You wash your face in the shower, if it's good for your hair it's good for everything, right? Here's your routine, but if you need to go back and read the prioritizing advice, I completely understand. Just don't skip the sunscreen, you're too precious and we want you to live forever, because the world WILL fall apart without people like you.

Beauty Queens (also recommended for dry skin)
If you're an adorable cookie baking grandma or a skydiving, world exploring, living it to the max retiree, you probably have different needs than you did when you were younger. Don't forget to upgrade your products. If you like Oil of Olay, that's fine, but do switch to a product that's designed for your age and skin type. No more acne medication for you, the older we get, the less oil our skin produces. The less oil, the less elasticity, the more wrinkles.

Cleanse with a cream cleanser.
Tone with a hydrating mild toner.

Evening:
